Laresa The Vampire Slayer

I know a beautiful woman who looks like a comic book character, thus inspiring this digital painting.

Red Riding Hood

Work in progress. It's October and all I want to do is illustrate red-heads!

Delicious

More practice with painting in Photoshop. I've been using Illustrator so much over the past few years I've gotten very rusty in PS. It's nice to have a big Cintiq to work on and it makes all the difference!

Little Black Dress

It's been over a year since my last post! I'm terrible at this. Been very busy working on the Lalaloopsy series as prop designer, and creating robots for Tiny Robot Factory at night. Same old same old. Anyways, Pinterest is a fun place to find inspiration for hair, clothes and mak...er I mean, sketching...so here is a quick lunch break doodle I did of the little photo below. Actually meant to make this more abstract than what I ended up doing, but whatevs.

Jane Illustration - Revisited

Many artists will advise against revisiting old artwork, and I agree that it can be a discouraging/distracting vortex...(which I think I've mentioned here already in some other post) however, there's that occasional concept that was approached prematurely, or in my case, with a lack of skill. I didn't want this illustration to get lost so I dove in again to get Jane to a place I was happy with. I'm still not even done with it but I made some good headway, and will work on her here and there until she's finished. Sometimes I need proof or reassurance that I am progressing as an illustrator. I think I found some...

ImaginAgents Character Concepts

I was mortified when I realized that I haven't posted anything here since last OCTOBER. I've been really busy working on character designs, Tiny Robot Factory, and writing music. It's a lot to juggle and there's a chance I might literally lose my mind. Before that happens, here's a quick look at a couple designs I did for Cosmic Toast Studios for a show idea called "ImaginAgents".

Truly Outrageous

Today I had some time to do whatever I wanted, so I drew up some fan-art of the cartoon character Jem. I was in the mood for something really bright and girly especially after looking at all the greys and muted colors on my site right now. I think I'll post it there too, to break up the monotony. I loosely based this illustration on her most famous pose, and made more changes to her hair and outfit.

Kitty

I haven't posted in a while since I've been so busy with work and travel, so here's a lil kitten to make us all feel better. Same style as my Panda, Penguin, and Owl I did in past. Hang in there for some more!

Grace Gloria

My Grandmother was a beautiful woman. I wish my reference photograph for this illustration wasn't so teeny, as I would have loved to capture more of her charm and the details of her surroundings. I did this a couple years ago and just found it as I was searching for something else, and thought it deserved a post. <3 you always Gram.

Day Of The Dead

Inspired by my sister who really digs skulls and Dia De Los Muertos.

Burn

I've been trying to digitally paint in this style for weeks now, and it turns out the secret lies in PS5's new brushes. This took me an embarrassingly long time to produce but since it was a first, I know I'll be much faster next time around. I love the soft feel and the flames are almost exactly how I pictured them to be.

Painted

Still not completely done, but most of the paint job is finished. Her hair and some details on her eyes and shirt need to be completed but here I am so far.
I received my new Magic Sculpt clay in the mail yesterday! I will be carefully planning out my next project. Perhaps I'll do another bust like this one for practice before I dive into a head to toe figure. At first this model was looking like Lady Gaga to me, without intending to, and now that she's painted all I see is Scarlett Johansson. I didn't intend a charcature of any type but I think it's funny how it just happens sometimes.
